Topical Steroids in Gastroenterology

Topical steroids, and first and foremost budesonide, have been established in the treatment of Crohn's disease for a long time. In recent years, the product has also been licensed in the treatment of collagenous colitis and autoimmune hepatitis. There are also highly promising results from randomised studies in the treatment of eosinophilic oesophagitis, lymphocytic colitis, ulcerative colitis and gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease.
