In this atlas Drs Hruban, Pitman and Klimstra succintly summarize the clinical literature, but concentrate on new entities and concepts since the publication of the previous fascicle in the third series. The illustrations are in colour and the tumours are presented in detail. The continuing importance of tumour morphology in directing molecular studies is appropriately emphasized. In addition to the extensive discussions, illustrations and references, important information has also been provided on normal, gross, histologic and cytologic findings and on pancreatic tumour staging. These discussions complement the author's treatment of the often confusing issue of frozen section interpretation, dissection, and reporting of pancreatic resection specimens and an "unknown" pancreatic biopsy or cytology specimen.
